BioHub aims to:
Develop the potentials of the Blue Bioeconomy sector;
Design a cluster, to host innovative projects of the entire marine bioresources sector value chain: biological aquaculture, microalgae, macroalgae, sea cucumber, artemia saligna, biocosmetics, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, etc;
Boost cooperation between people with the same vision;
Encourage different scientific fields with similar goals to benefit from the diversity of experiences of sharing this place: exchange of know-how, common use of resources – electricity, water, facilities;
Set up a network of companies of Blue Bioeconomy;
Implement the first system of IMTA in Portugal;
Present a real solution for the protein problem of Humankind, through IMTA and especially from macroalgae;
Preserve the environment, by the rational use of the resources in harmony with the natural cycles;
Improve the quality of life through the production of natural and healthy food (seaweed, super foods, salicornia, flor de sal, organic fish), nutraceutical and pharmaceutical products for treatment, healing, rejuvenation, etc., without side effects;
Promote the regional values and stimulate the social fabric by increasing the rate of employment, level of wealth, education and ethnic composition.
